Welcome, dear new follower!
I recorded this 1-minute introduction video for all my fellow tweet-geeks: micro blogging is great, and it's even more fun if you can put a face to the name. So this is how datadirt (that would be me) rolls:
I use a couple of mash-ups that put the ease back in twittering – the core system lacks a couple of functions which are essential for professional web marketers. These are my favorite services:
- tweetlater.com: Out of town? No net access? Tweetlater lets you schedule your tweets, auto-follow all your new followers and it even enables you to send out a customized direct welcome-messages to them. The Swiss army knife among twitter mash-ups!
- : Nice service for keeping an overview about what's happening in your followership.
- Desktop clients: digsby is a multi-protocol chat/social media/e-mail client with twitter integration. Personally, I prefer twhirl: this software is based on Adobe Air and lets you organize your twitter, friendfeed and identi.ca accounts. If you've got enough desktop space, you might want to take a look at TweetDeck: this application not only lets you manage multiple twitter accounts but it also breaks them down into topically organized bits and pieces. On my windows mobile phone I use Tiny Twitter, the best iPhone client is probably Twitterific which costs 15 bucks.
- Those are just my favorite picks, of course there are tons of other mash-ups: lots of them are listed in this mash-up overview
Do you know any other essential add-ons? Don't hesitate to leave me a comment – or send a direct message to

Digsby lacks Skype integration ;(
What about http://nimbuzz.com/
No Twitter integration yet – but Skype and more. Also the desktop client works faster. You could even add the StudiVZ IM, if you dare to…
Wow, I’m surprised, as Skype is using a proprietary protocol as far as I know. Reverse Engineering at work?
PS: Skype is currently only available on the mobile version (I’m running the iPhone app)
Now THAT’s what I’m talkin about! That’s true web2.0 folks! What a great idea :-)
Thx! Of course I like to hear that
That was a great video and link via twitter. I am new to all this, and you made a few things clear. Thank you.

Cezar

I could hardly tell what you were saying on the video, probably just my hearing
Pump up the volume!
I hope it’s not my English.
Hey Datadirt.
Thanks for the follow on Twitter.
It’s a good idea with the 1-minute intro. I might even do one myself.
I travel a bit with my profession and your tip about tweetlater.com is a good one. Keep up the good work

Thanks a lot, appreciate your feedback! And you’re right: Tweetlater (now called SocialOomph) is indeed very helpful when travelling; it’s even possible to schedule ping.fm updates and thus for example your Facebook status.
I am developing a web site – just learning – would like to add some videos but that is way above me now. I envy you and your ability
I highly recommend Vimeo.com – take a look, turns uploading and embedding videos into a breeze.
bite me u need to return my follow.
What I need to do and what I want to do are two totally separate things :-)
Plus: it would be of great help if you had left your twitter user… and a reason why I should follow you
Hi good explanation for web promoters. But the site gotta bit heavier took long time to load up? Wish you could make it load double faster as to be able to refer to others to enjoy it too, the tweet way:)
Hi Mohinder, do you mean the site as in datadirt or the video on Vimeo? They did some updates recently…
I’m constantly trying to make my site load faster; “JS to footer” worked quite nice, had to deactivate it though because it killed the lightbox effect and a couple of other scripts.
End up at ur page. Just great! Indeed very useful. I am very new on twitter and would love to know how can I ativate the “autofollow”
Can u help me with that?
Thanks, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil!
Hi Sandra, are you registered with Socialoomph.com? It’s a great service, they offer multi-account management, scheduling and many other features; for some you need a (paid) pro account, but the auto-follow also works in the free version, try it out: https://datadirt.net/socialoomph
Oh, yes…I forgot to ask. What about this “comment feed”? I would like to use it too.:))
xox
Hi, thx for pointing that out! Will be fixed asap, there’s some redirection problem – just saw that the link points to the main feed. Will get to it this weekend!
it is awesome but twitter has set limits of 2000 following I havae some 9000 followers what to do?
suggest ways to increase followers
Shall be thankful to you
it 9oo there are some bugs
The Twitterific app for the iPhone is free. Twitterific Premium for the iPhone is $4.99
The $15 price you mentioned is the OS X version for the desktop.
I see – thx for the update!
hey tht was a great movie u are awesome
Wow, you make me *blush*
seesmic.com is another very interesting video based social network and they built a really cool Twitter app. Have a look.
Yes, I know Seesmic – they abandoned their video platform in january though and solely focus on their desktop and web-based Twitter clients now. Actually, I did a video interview with Seesmic founder Loic Le Meur a couple of weeks ago at the WBF: Loic Le Meur on Twitter and Seesmic
Hey ritche, this is great stuff, I just followed you on twitter, I’ll be sure to read more on your blog, love the video.
Great, glad you like dd!
Ritchie, thanks for your nice introduction, I will set this on my favorite list
And when I have a litle time, sure I’m come back.
God bless you
thx for the kudos! Hope to meet you here again soon
Drop me a line I’m an actor and now getting into all of this just saying hello.
KG
Hi Kelsey, glad to meet you – guess the net is not the worst environment for actors!
Not at all liking it and looking forward to expanding my knowledge its kind of the same when I take on a new roll.
And, are you already starting to like it?
